These paintings were created for the Art for Change exhibition, Where Shall We Call Home?, Depot Artspace, 2017, which raised awareness of this crisis, and funds (almost $20,000) for refugee resettlement in New Zealand. They reference the nautical chart regions where many boat refugee disasters have occurred. The exhibition took place at Depot Artspace, Auckland, in June/July 2017. I have also done some subsequent paintings for this series, some of which are shown here.
